Piret Rohusaar
Artist is based in: Estonia
Piret Rohusaar (1961) focuses on music – especially jazz – in her painting practice, through which she explores rhythm, presence, and the invisible tension between music and the depicted subject. In the artist’s portraits, recognisable imagery is combined with a musical, fluid painterly approach merging figure and atmosphere. Rohusaar graduated in painting from the Estonian State Art Institute in 1988 and has actively participated in the art scene through numerous solo and group exhibitions. She is a member of the Estonian Painters’ Association and the Estonian Artists’ Association. She particularly values Tiit Pääsuke, Enn Põldroos and Ando Keskküla as her teachers and mentors.
