Pietari Hyvärinen Emerging artist
Artist is based in: Finland
Turku Arts Academy graduate artist working across multimedia installation, sculpture and video art. Over the past several years, the artist has developed a practice grounded in experimentation, spatial dialogue and socially engaged themes, while completing studies at Turku Arts Academy, graduating in spring 2026.
The artist’s work has been presented in multiple exhibitions and collaborative projects, including a recent exhibition in Berlin featuring a video art piece. In recent years, the practice has increasingly expanded into public space, exploring how art can intervene in urban environments and activate collective reflection. One such example is the sculpture Siirtokehotus (Removal Notice).
Drawing from contradictions within contemporary society, the artist works with theatricality, materiality and interaction, often combining different media and spatial strategies. The works engage with themes such as climate change, urban planning, technologisation and community, seeking to open dialogue around the social and environmental conditions shaping contemporary life.
Through interactive elements and the use of innovative tools and materials, the artist continuously searches for new forms of artistic expression while challenging conventional understandings of space, participation and the boundaries of art itself.
