My Maanmies (b. 1989) works with liminal states through repetitive processes manifested in the intersection between painting and sculpture. The monumental works emerge from an exploration of cycles of life and death, light and darkness, as well as the cycles within the psyche. Thoughts and states of being are constantly carried through chaos, dissolution, and potential. Maanmies engages with existence and non-existence; an inward journey that leads to remembrance, where every action is new yet recalls those before it, where darkness becomes the threshold of light, bringing them both together.

My is a recent graduate of the Bachelor’s Programme in Fine Arts at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited both in Sweden and internationally, including at Husby Konsthall (2026), Liljevalchs Spring Salon (2024/2025), Bothnia Salon at Västerbottens Museum (2024), 3m2 Gallery Paris (2024), and Lucid Interval Paris (2021). Since 2021, My Maanmies has been represented by Serena Morton Gallery in London, leading to her work becoming part of private collections.
