Martyna Plioplyte-Zujiene Emerging artist
Artist's country of origin: Lithuania
Martyna hs defended her master’s degree at the Department of Textile Art and Design. Her visual language centers on sustainability and caring for the world. Themes such as attachment to childhood images in adult life, experience, memory, women’s rights, and restrictions are particularly relevant in her work. Additionally, she address the ecological issue of human whims turning into unnecessary garbage.
Soft sculpture dominates her creative field, but she also creatse photo and video performance formats. Notably, Martyna was selected to participate in the art biennial BIEN 2023 “The SUN” in Slovenia (May 31 – August 10), standing out as the only artist from Lithuania in a highly competitive selection process. She was also chosen through a major international competition to participate in the prestigious Miniartextile 32 “Denudare Feminas Vestis” exhibition in Como, Italy.
Furthermore, Martyna has been selected to participate in the European project “Weave Up!”. This project is part of the “Creative Europe” program, created by the European Commission to support initiatives aimed at protecting, promoting, and developing the diversity of Europe’s cultural heritage.
