Liina Kalvik

Artist is based in: Estonia

Liina Kalvik (1973) studied painting at the Estonian Academy of Arts and has

participated in the art scene with both solo and group exhibitions. It has been

written about her work that she paints very honestly and, even in the present

time, somewhat disarmingly directly about everything that happens around

her (and to her). At the same time, she is not a documentarian; her life and,

above all, her observations reach the viewer in fragments. In terms of painterly

language, she is thoroughly a colorist, working primarily with halftones and

nuances. Kalvik is a member of the Estonian Artists’ Association.
