Kätriin Säde Emerging artist

Kätriin Säde

Artist is based in: Estonia

Kätriin Säde (b. 2001) is a young artist based in Tartu. She graduated from the Pallas University of Applied Sciences with a degree in painting, and from the Tartu Art School with a degree in decoration and design (2021). In 2023, she furthered her studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (Magyar Képzőművészeti Egyetem) through the Erasmus+ programme. Säde is an active member of the artist collective Multinektar. Her artistic style is characterized by a surreal and playful symbolism, featuring large-scale red insects as recurring motifs. While painting is Säde’s primary medium, she frequently integrates her work with conceptual art. The artist’s graduation thesis explores the common ground between painting and conceptual art, while contemplating what it means to be a young contemporary artist in today’s art world. In April 2025, her first solo exhibition, “My Red Bugs” (Minu punased lutikad), was held at the Pallas Gallery. The exhibition explored the journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance through characters inspired by European firebugs (red bugs).
