Julija Jankavs is a Ukrainian-Latvian visual artist born in 2001 in Rivne, Ukraine. She currently lives and works in Riga, Latvia. Her artistic practice is primarily focused on painting, with a conceptual core centered on exploring the relationship between emotions and their impact on the body. In 2026, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Art Academy of Latvia. Julija has been dedicated to art throughout her entire conscious life; as a child, she completed studies at two art schools. She then continued her education and received a Bachelor’s degree in Monumental Painting from the Lviv Trush College of Decorative and Applied Arts. Following this, she studied at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, where she earned a Master’s degree in Painting and Fine Arts. Jankava has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Latvia, Ukraine, Switzerland, and the USA, including: Ukraine: From War to Peace (Zurich, 2022), The Warmth of Your Hands Doesn’t Hurt Me (Riga, 2022), Take Care of Your Teens (Riga, 2023), Foresight (Art Platz Gallery, Riga, 2025), Point of Reference (Lviv, 2025), Raging Color (Riga, 2025), LOOK (Riga, 2025), and the Art Academy of Latvia Diploma Exhibition (2026). Her works are held in private collections in Ukraine, Latvia, the United States, and Switzerland. She continues to develop a contemporary painting practice that combines conceptual inquiry with an expressive visual language.
