Joonas Mäntylä ^{Emerging artist}

Artist is based in: Finland

Joonas Mäntylä studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki, and works primarily with painting. His artistic practice centres on spontaneity and an intuitive creative process. In the studio, he embraces impulsivity, considering the discovery of new possibilities during the process more important than adhering to an initial idea. This approach allows his works to remain open to change, developing through a dialogue between the artist and the artwork rather than following a predetermined plan from beginning to end.

Mäntylä’s work draws on his inner thoughts and humour found in everyday life. He considers an artwork successful when it surprises or amuses him.
