Hedi Kuhi (b. 1998) is a painter who lives and works in both Tallinn and Valga, Estonia. In 2019, she graduated from the Tartu Art School with a specialty in Decorative Arts, and in 2026 she completed her studies in Painting at the Pallas University of Applied Sciences. In 2023, Hedi was awarded the Hotel Pallas Scholarship, which resulted in her solo exhibition “Here Again” at the Tartu Art House. In 2025, she received the Eduard Wiiralt Scholarship as well as the Pallas Field Scholarship in the Arts. In the autumn of the same year, Hedi participated in the duo exhibition “Wouldn’t You Happen to Know Mark Here in Valga? A Story from Bordertown” together with Danel Ülper at Hobusepea Gallery. She has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions and art auctions. In her artistic practice, Hedi focuses on the perception of the surrounding environment. She is interested in the balance between wildness and order, both in urban space and in the human inner world. Figures, natural motifs, and cityscapes are often layered and intertwined in her paintings. In creating her works, she uses the technique of double exposure, resulting in imagery that appears to exist between dream and reality. Her art consists primarily of oil and acrylic paintings, drawings, and printmaking.
