Greta Sauter
Artist is based in: Estonia
Greta Sauter (b. 1990) is an artist based in Tallinn and a third-year photography student at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Sauter’s interdisciplinary practice moves between photography, video, sound, text, installation, and performance. She is interested in the interplay between a person’s inner world and their external environment, and in how social situations, spaces, and invisible tensions shape human behaviour and perception.
Her work explores themes such as social pressure, silence, the dynamics of consent and refusal, presence and absence, and the relationship between individuals and their surroundings. Alongside her conceptual practice, Sauter often draws on direct observations of everyday life. She is interested in fleeting, quiet, and easily overlooked situations that acquire new meaning when captured through photography. For her, photography is not merely a means of creating an image, but a way of suspending a moment that may contain something unnoticed in everyday perception.
