Erkki Huilla Emerging artist

Erkki Huilla (b. 2000) is a finnish artist located in Helsinki, who in their practise mainly utilises photography and different printmaking methods, such as mono printing and polymer photogravure printing. Image is always a key element in their working, while doing their artistic research. Huilla takes inspiration from cultural phenomenas from early 2000s and utilises them in their practice, examining the many layers found in the modern world. Themes range from everyday life to wider themes like consumption tying it all together by observing the performative nature of a human and what it is to be part of a group as an individual.
Huilla started their studies in The University of Fine Arts Helsinki in 2021. In 2023 Huilla took part in the Flow Festival Urban Arts art installation project with their work “I consent to my own boundaries, that are not to be broken by you”.
