Dārta Madara Cielava (b. 2002) is a Latvian painter currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Art Academy of Latvia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities with a specialization in Painting from the Art Academy of Latvia (2021–2025) and previously studied at the Liepāja Secondary School of Music, Art and Design, where she qualified as an Advertising Design Specialist (2017–2021).

Cielava has actively participated in numerous exhibitions and art projects both in Latvia and abroad. Notable highlights include the diploma exhibition I Am Art (Art Academy of Latvia, 2025), the laureate title in the competition Ogre Municipality Artist (2025), being a finalist in the SEB Painting Award exhibition (2025), as well as contributions to group shows such as Now, With Your Permission and Horizon of the Line (Poland).

Her practice approaches painting as both self-expression and a profound method of research and dialogue with the viewer, with time, and with the space we inhabit. She often explores themes rooted in everyday environments, seeking a balance between the personal and the universal. Emphasizing technique and materiality, Cielava treats each work not merely as a visual representation, but as something deeply grounded and viscerally felt.
