Armine Sargsyan

Artist is based in: Lithuania

Armine Hayk Sargsyan (b. 1992) is a Lithuanian-born artist whose work resonates with her Southeastern roots and multicultural background. Her artistic practice navigates the complexity of contemporary human experience, exploring themes of temporality, existential presence, and cultural memory. Sargsyan’s installations, scenographies, and paintings often reflect a deep interest in the intersection of personal narrative and collective history, establishing a space for autonomous thought and poetic resistance within the framework of socio-political realities. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and is completing a Master’s in Site-Specific Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Sargsyan has presented solo exhibitions at the VDA Final Shows, including “Autonomous Thinking: Regression in Progress and Progress in Regression” (2025) and “A Case of One Gravitational Center” (2023). Her work has been showcased in major group exhibitions such as the Young Painter Prize (2023, 2024), where she was a finalist and received a Special Mention from Luminor Bank. She also participated in the Meno Kodas 2024 Biennial, the international plein-air “Formats of Colour”, and group shows like “tapetum” and “Calm Memory”. Her painting “Is This a Sunset?” was sold at the Luminor Bank charity auction and entered a private collection. Her projects have been covered by Artnews.lt and LRT, and her voice has reached wider audiences through national radio and podcast interviews. Sargsyan also contributes to cinema and performance arts as a screenwriter, director’s assistant, and visual designer. Notably, she co-authored the script for “The Grand Inquisitor” and worked on the documentary “Bogdanas Doesn’t Want to Go Home”. In 2023, she conducted pigment research during an ERASMUS internship at Barsmedia in collaboration with Armenia’s Matenadaran Institute. A recipient of the 2024 Violeta and Romanas Raulynaitis Named Award, she continues to shape the cultural landscape both locally and internationally.
