Artist's country of origin: Estonia
Alisa Vasina was born in Tartu in 1992. Vasina acquired basic knowledge of art in the years 2002-2007 at the Tartu Children’s Art School. In 2008–2012, she obtained vocational secondary education at the Tartu Art School, in decorator-stylist department. Within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci program, she received further education as an exchange student at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art High-School in 2011. In 2012-2016 Vasina got her higher education diploma at Tartu Art College in the paintings department in design direction. Nowadays, the school is called Pallas University of Applied Sciences. Since 2019, Alisa Vasina has been a member of the Tartu Artists’ Union. Alisa Vasina expresses her thoughts through animal-based characters that relate to the theme of time and carry various symbols. The artist cultivates the style of the populist art movement called Lowbrow or Pop-surrealism. The artist is inspired by the decorativeness and sense of humor of this style – which is sometimes pleasant, sometimes unpleasant and sometimes sarcastic. The young painter has always been interested in fashion, which is why she has combined these two worlds and, in addition to paintings, also creates fashion pieces in her signature style. The artist’s goal is to bring the joy and power of color into people’s lives through her colorful designs and the positive messages hidden in them.
