Laura Marija Balčiūnaitė Emerging artist
Artist's country of origin: Lithuania
Laura Marija Balčiūnaitė (born 1990) graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania) in 2016 with a Masters Degree in Graphics/Printmaking.
Starting her MA studies the artist was firmly interested in passion. She had lot of drawings and pictures of fountains staying in Barcelona. Since then she started making connections between fountains and passion: she explores the fountain as a symbol of passion, and search for its representations where human passions express themselves. In her creative process, she becomes the fountain, and her passion becomes the tool for creativity – the circulating water.
Drawing installations is her means of expression. She uses linear drawings in a primitive but passionate way, expressed in different technics, such as markers, ink, spray color, water glue and paper, collage, layers. Then she combines them with objects or other materials.
