Tea Lemberpuu Emerging artist

Tea Lemberpuu

Artist's country of origin: Estonia

Tea Lemberpuu (b. 1980) graduated this spring from the painting department of the Estonian Academy of Arts, BA and she was awarded with the EKA Young Artist Award. In addition to figures, the artist is excited by moments where the action takes place on the border between abstract and representational. She is characterised by a certain randomness in her brushwork and sometimes barely perceptible contrasts. The artist reduces detail to create more air and opportunities to experience the image. In her style of representation, the artist moves towards simplification, letting go, towards generalisation and ease. Lemberpuu has participated in group exhibitions in Tartu, Tallinn, Riga, Druskininkai. Solo exhibitions at the Betti Alver Museum (2016), Promenaadiviis (2020), Tallinn Airport (2021). She is a member of Tartu Artists Union.
