Sofia Vuorenmaa Emerging artist

Sofia Vuorenmaa

Artist is based in: Finland

Sofia Vuorenmaa (b. 2001) works primarily with printmaking, analogue photography, drawing and text. The starting points for her works usually come from the sea, the sky and their phenomena. Vuorenmaa is interested in the event of perception, particularly the sensitive, immersed looking, and how what is sensed is in relation to language. Her works build on gestures which, in all their precision, seek to imprecisely understand that what is beyond the reach of a defining gaze. Vuorenmaa will graduate as MFA from The Uniarts Helsinki in 2026. She has participated residencies and several group exhibitions around Finland and abroad. Her works have been on display for example in Amos Rex Art Museum (2026) and Kuva/Tila gallery (2024, 2025, 2026) in Helsinki, Mänttä Art Festival (2026), Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art (2024) in Vaasa, and Halle und Quergalerie (2025) in Berlin. She is a member of The Association of Finnish Printmakers.
