I have placed objects, objects, experienced places and imagined visions in the works of the exhibition. Different forms of being and temporal layers are intertwined in my paintings. This is linked to a collage-like painting style, where the whole is built from several interconnected parts.
The overlapping layers of the paintings cover and reveal the stages of the making process. I’ve been playing with the tensions between surface and depth, inanimate and organic. Painting includes the joy of making, tolerating uncertainty, giving up and finding.
The works show signs of the passing of time and change. The still lifes are colored by impermanence. While arranging the elements of the paintings, I have thought about balancing between control and uncontrollability. Life does not settle according to our wishes, but sprouts, sprawls, withers and makes room for something new.
Thanks to the Art Promotion Center for supporting the work.
