how to take in a space
how to make oneself space
how to make a space
my own
(how to)
on my own, own a space and still invite others
to stay
welcome
this is an invitation
to hold the space
(hold me)
while I’m gone
I would like you to stay
looking at the exhibition space
to decide where and what to display
I felt the need to measure it with my body
It is difficult for me to remember the size of a room
I usually picture it too small
four and a half times two and a half of my body
square meters to fill with
a body of work
my body of work
work body body work
filling a space
fill in a space
feeling a space
stay
Lena Schwingshandl (*1994, Vienna) is an Austrian artist working extensively with video, sound, drawings and performative practices. She is interested in the dynamics of relationships and encounters both on public and intimate level. In several works she includes her family members and performs with them in front of the camera. Thereby she explores the effect of her artistic practice on her personal relationships. In collaboration with Barbara Neu she curates the event series “flatconcerts” since 2018.
The exhibition is supported by the Austrian Embassy in Helsinki.
