As in previous years, women dominate, both among the applicants and in the selection process. Of those accepted, 88 are women, 70 are men and 1 is a non-woman. The age range is wide, the youngest being 18-year-old Miles from Bromma and the oldest being 89-year-old Per Torvald from Arkelstorp. The average age of those admitted and those applying was 52. The selected artists live all over the country, from Ystad to Råneå, from Färjestaden to Åsa.
As usual, the selection includes a mix of techniques, ranging from painting, drawing and sculpture to installation, video and AI-generated art. Painting is the most common technique, including mixed media painting, bringing the total to 131 entries. Sculpture and drawing are tied for second place with 35 works each.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue presenting each exhibitor’s work. From the day of the opening, the artists’ own texts about their works will be available on our website.
This year’s jury consisted of art scholar Isabella Nilsson, artist Jockum Nordström, and jury chairman Isak Nilson, Deputy Director of the Liljevalchs Art Gallery.
