The lost grove will feature deciduous trees that have become scarcer in Finnish forests, such as oaks, lindens, elms and hazel. The landscape will be brought to life by a sound installation consisting of forest sounds in which the focus is on recordings of the song of various extinct birds. The bird song will be accompanied by a composition by Kasperi Laine, which will shift with the various seasons of the forest and mirror their atmosphere. You can also enjoy the soundscape in the restful calm of the greenhouse dome.
With the arrival of autumn, the trees and plants of the grove will be donated to locations that lack local forests. You can suggest locations by sending a message to hanna.westerholm@hel.fi.
