Some of the works by the painter Vaitkūnas that will be presented in this exhibition are less exhibited or somewhat forgotten. It should be noted that some of them have been installed by the painter himself in previous joint exhibitions, and the remaining photographs in this exhibition will be used to display the works as they were exhibited by the artist.
The work is an indivisible whole.
This whole is made up of known and memorable periods and works, but there are also parts that invisibly connect these known works, cycles and periods. These less known and obvious parts of the work are important pretexts and explorations that bring out the core ideas of the artist’s oeuvre. Just as without one seemingly secret or unremarkable phase of creation, another, clearly formulated phase cannot emerge, so the creative whole is born out of the cycles that make up the great body of the whole.
The exhibition presents objects created by the painter, works created during his travels or residencies in Paris, Austria, as well as his last work created during a symposium in the former Georgia (now Sakhartvel) in 2005.
