The artist Pia Sandström creates a new spatiality in the art gallery consisting of architecture, light, sound, image and textile. Her desire is to meet the writer Birgitta Trotzig's (1929-2011) gaze in a shared interest in the spread of the landscape horizontally and vertically. Deep down into the layers of the earth. But also tossed between depth and everydayness.
In Trotzig’s texts, the artist has gained a strong feeling for the bodily and intimate which is abstracted and tied together with larger spaces and time spaces where the movement in and over a place can be thought of as a force of appearance.
Pia Sandström (born 1969) is based in Stockholm. She is educated at the Art Schools in Stockholm, Helsinki and Trondheim. Sandström has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Sweden and internationally. In Åhus, she has created an artistic representation in the form of a land-type artwork for Sånnaskolan, Kullarna (Space for Thought, Handling of Land), 2022.
