There are human figures in my paintings, either alone or trying to connect with another. I never make characters based on sight alone but based on what I know. My goal is to practice a clearly constructing and analyzing painting language that distinguishes these still figurative works from merely naturalistic presenting. The situations pictured are based on memories, dreams and imagination. One thing is for sure: what matters is not a person’s looks or the clothes one wears, but rather the space that each individual takes and the feeling he or she carries within.
I thank the Arts Promotion Centre for supporting my work.
