The installation seen in the exhibition reimagines the existing attic. Its sloping roof descends from the ridge, the hatch prevents daylight from entering the space. Two windows frame the musty air. This is the place where cats were born and where dogs went to die. There is a pile of books lying on the stairs, waiting to be carried to the attic. Once they find their place on the shelf, they probably won't leave their place. Sitting on the shelf, quietly the books begin to open up to you. Just like another pair of eyes, like a heart in the right place, like thick skin.

The works in the exhibition follow declining health. A health condition that has deteriorated, but which is not yet understood as a disease – in your mind or in your medical records. The health you still wish for; healing and being rediscovered, both in the things you do and in the objects that surround you.
In the Growing Pains exhibition, I want to learn from my understanding of growth. Whether it’s growing up, personal growth, or financial growth, I want to invite a more cyclical understanding of these processes, based on the fact that we are vulnerable beings who are prone to illness.
