In Inari Krohn’s recent paintings, a person is a small part of a vast landscape.
The pastoral depictions of the paintings take place somewhere in an unspecified Mediterranean environment – or perhaps in Northern Italy – and the era they depict can also be broadly interpreted from antiquity through the Renaissance to the present.
Lonely wanderers move in the blueish perspectives of the paintings.
Some of Krohn’s graphic prints are parallel interpretations of the subjects of the paintings, and in them the richness of Krohn’s drawing, which focuses on even the smallest details, comes to the fore. Trees in particular have always been an important subject for Krohn. We move to the branches of trees and birds and other winged creatures in the back space of the gallery, where the works often seen in Krohn’s works of recent years are on display, focusing on the connection and circulation of all living things, as well as partly also on symbolic content.
10.3.23 will be 40 years since Pertti Koistinen and Minnami Paavolainen founded Galleria Dueto! I myself started as a gallerist in the fall of 1987 and the exhibition was Elina Luukanen’s graphics. Since then, Duetto has profiled itself as a graphics gallery, although since then we have also presented sculptures and paintings. Huge amounts of creative power, skill and competence of artists have been witnessed by these walls and viewers over the years. More than 400 exhibitions and 40 years! Duetto has also taken its artists abroad, e.g. To Madrid and Málaga in Spain and even to Peru, Lima. Artists from Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, Spain, Italy and France have performed in Dueto.
