Art collections tell stories about art and contemporary ideals, and especially about the collectors themselves. When looking at a collection, you can get an inkling of the collector’s dreams, feelings, hopes and expectations.
You can be transported to the urban bustle or idyllic landscapes of Europe, as conjured up by the surprising or carefully planned art acquisitions. The exhibition includes art treasures from the collections of Otto Wilhelm Klinckowström, Hjalmar Linder, Herman Antell, and Ester and Jalo Sihtola.
The exhibition includes works dating from the 15th to the 19th century, by star painters such as Jacopo Bassano (1510–1592), Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669), and Gerard ter Borch (1617–1681).
The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff’s collection donation in 1921. Some of the highlights of this collection are featured in the exhibition. By highlighting prominent collectors alongside the works they have acquired, we celebrate the Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff collection.
