Designer, illustrator Anu Saari’s Unelmia project invites the public to dream. It all started from Saari’s long-term dream to illustrate freely and hold his own exhibition in Japan. When this came true, Saari wanted to put the good into circulation. The idea of visualizing other people’s dreams was born: a dialogic concept where the illustrator builds the next exhibition from the dreams of the visitors to the exhibition. So far, the illustrator has already collected hundreds of dreams from people. He feels that it has changed his ideas about dreaming.
According to Saari, there is a lot of goodness, optimism and potential in people, which is not visible in everyday life or in the media. The Unelmia project helps to make this good visible. Each exhibition of the project is different, the technique and illustration style also change. The style of the latest exhibition has been born through risography experiments. Recycled paper, soy-based printing ink and biodegradable natural rubber have been used as materials for the works. The fourth exhibition of the Unelmia project is on view at Galleria Kuvittus. The project has been supported over the years by Kuvittajat ry, Grafia, Ornamo and the Art Promotion Center.
