From a cocoon a thin thread is spun,
the palm of their hand, a beautiful water lily
a cloud rests there and the shadow of a bat.
Thoughts get tangled into hair,
a strange insect moves into the heart,
the heart opalizes into a fossile in the very soil
onto which this room was once founded.
From the dust of this city I gather downs and wings,
collect small words that I regard, drop them from my tongue onto the wind – they break apart
into notes, signs, then just
bending swirling along a traveling line:
Moon, living, light, o , skin, sorrow, if
Anna Mäki-Jyllilä (b. 1998) is an artist and poet from Helsinki. They study architecture at the Aalto University and are building an own archive of sights and homes through strolling, listening, mirroring and memorizing. The main themes in Anna’s work are concealment and enigma, and things important to them include grooves and seas, windows, papers, winds, the thought of flying and the thought of sensitive vision. Their work has previously been exhibitied in Kosminen’s salon group shows.
