The exhibition has traveled to Riga from Basel, and it was created to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Swiss pharmaceutical company. The artist's works can be seen as a commentary both on medical achievements for the progress of mankind and on the sometimes contradictory consequences of these achievements.

Hartley has always had a patient-centered view – he is interested in the patient’s feelings about his body during illness. In the exhibited works, the artist has captured the connection between life and death, health and illness, control and helplessness, which both patients and doctors have described to him in conversations over 25 years.
