"WorkAndFun" is an ongoing project of Ignas Maldus. The artist captures abandoned buildings where people spent their free time in Soviet times. He looks at the Soviet past without scepticism and negativity – the disappearing objects of Soviet architecture are presented as an interpretation of a dream or a warm memory.

The development of this series started in 2018 and expanded to the Baltic countries in 2021 with the Baumanis Grant. WorkAndFun is one of the projects in the MAGIC series. This series stands out with its author’s technique: the work takes place in the dark, shooting with long exposures, illuminating objects with hundreds of coloured flashes. It is a long and complicated process of analogue photography.
