The exhibition Queer City consists of installations by Maamito (Miguel Hernandez Quintanilla and Torfinn Truchs Erga) and SPEED (Eirik Stokke and Espen Heggertveit). The exhibitions are part of an immersion and dissemination project that is based on Queivt Arkiv's marking of queer history in 2022 and builds on both ROM's Open Call in 2021 and the start-up of ROM Studio in the spring of 2022.
At our Open call in 2021, we received several projects that map “queer public places in Oslo”, and started the collaboration with Maamito and SPEED architects. They were invited to the ROM studio to be part of our team at the ROM for two weeks 16 – 27 March 2022. In the extension, they invited curator Håkon Traaseth Lillegraven to co-organize a public interdisciplinary presentation and conversation about queer practices within art, spatial development and architecture. The event New Shapes – on art, architecture on 27 April this year was attended by the five mentioned, as well as the artists Bendik Syversætre Johannesen and Christa Barlinn Korvald.
