PointCounterPoint is an art activist project and exhibition at the Interkulturelt Museum, which deals with the political and social aftermath of covid-19. The exhibition examines the experience of the pandemic and its many consequences from the perspective of artists.
Would it have been possible with other post-pandemic realities? How can we see what we have experienced as an opportunity? And what would we have done differently if it happened again?
The exhibition shows works, particularly textile art, that respond to the pandemic, including disagreements and frustrations around restrictions, conspiracy theories and protest posters.
Covid-19 left behind a collective trauma. We want to forget and move on. At the same time, the pandemic crystallized existing problems: Social and economic inequalities were reflected and reinforced, the political handling of the pandemic created polarized fronts, young people lost parts of their youth and the elderly were exposed to isolation and loneliness.
The pandemic offered a chance to create a new reality – but did we really seize this opportunity? Or did we accept a return to normal?
