Stephanie Sikkes focuses on the diversity of modern women. Sikkes depicts strong, female characters in different ages and life situations, and uses collage to create what she refers to as visual symbols of women. The project does not intend to define the woman, but on the contrary to present a heterogeneous and shape-shifting universe – created in interaction with the depicted and in the encounter with the viewer.
Malin Griffiths explores fashion and identity in a changing world that is constantly shaping us. The title Dogwalk refers to the term “Catwalk”, and is inspired by the artist’s daily dog walks where she observes how fashion is expressed in everyday life. Griffiths sees the world as a theatre, where with masquerade and costumes we control our audience and perform our gender. Clothes are dead, but when they are woven over the body they immediately come to life. In this coded game, garments can both give and take power from the wearer.
Malin Griffiths exhibits with the support of Region Halland.
