The cruelty and selfishness of man is rampant around and yet; the world is full of beauty. I look at the nature and landscape around me; wonderful ensembles and small details of Päijänne's beaches; plants, insects, birds; and even their small details. Everything is connected to everything, we are part of a big network, all ultimately one and the same. The focus of my oil paintings is color and light; I build a picture of what I see, experience and feel, and I don't know if it's more a picture of man or nature, or is there a difference?
In the paintings of the exhibition, detached plants, insects, birds or clouds drift in water, air or perhaps space. My paintings always start from reality, as I see and experience it, but turn into something unpredictable during the painting process; sometimes everything is immersed in color and light, sometimes emotions take over; the content and name of the paintings are only revealed at the end.
I build my paintings layer by layer, utilizing the transparency of oil paint; the technology enables a strong light and color experience and gives the two-dimensional surface the impression of depth.
