Jenny has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. After many years of only painting with acrylics, in recent years she has started sculpting more and more, and in the last three years, from having been an avid acrylic painter for about 25 years, she has switched to painting in oils. Both the clay and the oil paint have presented her with new stimulating and welcome challenges. Both painting and sculpture are shown in the exhibition.
“I usually work with a theme and the idea for this theme comes from a conversation I had with my grandmother. She was a little over eighty years old at the time and said she thought aging was strange. “Sure, if I look in the mirror I can see the aged woman, but inside I’m still the girl too.” This thing about carrying your different ages within you throughout life has been on my mind a lot lately, perhaps because I myself turned fifty this summer. I think it’s important to preserve the girl/boy inside and the exhibition is a kind of tribute to these inner girls, but also a tribute to cool aunties.” / Jenny Söderlund
She combines her own creation with teaching painting, sketching and sculpture two days a week at Mullsjö Folkhögskola, where she also teaches weekend and summer courses.
