“I gave myself a whole year to dive into the paint. I had reached the end of the road in mine painting and needed to do a reboot. From the figurative I moved into the abstract, and rummaged around.
How difficult it was! And rewarding!
And it is from that process that my current work comes. I found one language and a theme that touches me, or rather is there, deep down. It can take different expressions, both figurative and non-figurative, in different techniques and material and both two- and three-dimensional. It is both a pleasure and a compulsion to be there/here, but above all it is one voyage of discovery. Like a truffle pig I bark and root, like a geologist I knock stones and bury me. I wash gold, and find stories.”
