Acke Oldenburg erected public sculptures in Skövde, Örebro, Gothenburg, Mora as well as several in Stockholm and Huddinge. One of his most famous public commissions consists of two large, free-standing walls at the foot of Myrstuguberget in Masmo. The work is entitled Detta er mitt Huddinge and depicts famous and completely unknown people from Huddinge’s history.
Through paintings and graphics from over 50 years of artistry, the exhibition “In the room between us” highlights Acke Oldenburg’s typical style, choice of colors and world of images. His works can be described as a kind of primeval scenes where both the essential and the unessential, the private and the public, the contemporary and the cultural history are brought together into eternal stories about places and relationships.
“It may seem that I am this that feels and thinks and decides… but in fact nothing is decided in me, it is decided between – between us… Between us there arise forces, enchantments, impulses, gods that cast around each other like straws… we just roll on…” (Acke Oldenburg, 1969)
From 1962 he lived and worked in Huddinge. On June 22, 2023, Acke Oldenburg would have turned 100 years old.
