At the “Master to Master” exhibition, you can learn more about instruments and their famous makers. The exhibition is accompanied by a rich and varied program of concerts, commission pieces inspired by works in the collection, storytelling accompanied by music, guided tours, and evening screenings of films related to art and music. You will be able to learn more about for example the famed nineteenth-century Norwegian violin prodigy Ole Bull, or about musical and artistic communities that have influenced one another.
A particular highlight of the exhibition will be the four quartets of string instruments made by the world-famous Italian luthiers Stradivari, Guarneri, Guadagnini, and Gofriller. The instruments will be presented alongside works by the Danish artist Peder Severin Krøyer. Krøyer made these works while the famous Neruda Quartet played in his Copenhagen studio, where he drew and painted both the musicians and the onlookers in a furious tempo.
