The idea for this exhibition was born in the Merenkävijö connection boat Piper, which transports people to the islands of Särkä and Haraka every day. The exhibition built in the premises of Restaurant Särkänlinna reinforces and makes visible the importance of the connection between these two islands.

The islands are also united by architect Oiva Kallio, a founding member of the sailing club Merenkävijöt and the club’s “court architect”. Kallio has drawn Särkä’s restaurant and sauna, as well as the building currently serving as Haraka’s Artist House. 30 artists from different fields now work in the former chemical laboratory of the Defense Forces, ten of whom are included in the exhibition. Some of them are also members of Merenkävijöt.
