The picture of me Perhaps all art can be said to be a reflection of the self, or of man? In the exhibition The Image of Me, we explore different expressions of the self. Both through pure self-portraits and other depictions of the artist's personal experiences, as well as through portraits and depictions of other people. Here you can see portraits of, among others, Alice Neel and Elisabeth Peyton, two artists whose art is about depicting others. Reflections of their own experiences are found in the works of Lenke Rothman and Jan Håfström. An entire room has been dedicated to Lena Cronqvist, whose artistry revolves around the self, family and experiences of the body.

Generations
Art is rarely created in a vacuum; each generation of artists creates from the context in which they exist. Whether their art is clearly rooted in social debate or not, artists are influenced by the world around them. In the exhibition Generations, we present two generations of artists whose artistry has been influenced by the events they grew up in.
A younger generation of artists, who have made a breakthrough in the last 10 years, with works by, among others, Ylva Carlgren, Sixten Sandra Österberg and Olof Marsja. These artists’ upbringings have been marked by digitalization, the September 11 attacks and political polarization.
A generation that was influenced by the Second World War and the subsequent Cold War, primarily represented by Georg Baselitz. This exhibition shows all of the works by Georg Baselitz in the collection, including paintings, sculptures and art on paper. Works by Ann Edholm, Lars Englund and Jarl Ingvarsson are also on display.
Contrasts
This exhibition focuses on the interplay between light and dark, black and white. Works from the collection are shown here, all relating in different ways to the theme of contrasts. Old favourites, such as Jaume Plensa’s stunning sculpture White Forest (Isabella), meet new additions to the collection, including a work by South African-Dutch artist Marlene Dumas.
