Lena Trapp (born 1974) works with sculpture, installation and 3D animation. In her artistry, she often explores topics such as memory, time and the subconscious. Lena Trapp is trained in animation and artistic design, but also has a background as a photographer and jewelry designer. She lives and works in Gothenburg.
In the exhibition at Gothenburg’s art museum, Lena Trapp has chosen to create an atmospheric, virtual room where nature and technology meet. Here, a giant shell sculpture, created by modern 3D technology, is combined with a digital video work that overflows into the physical space. Producer and musician Christopher Berg, who previously worked with artists such as Depeche Mode and Robyn, has created an underwater soundtrack for Lena Trapp’s environments and video works.
Emelie Röndahl (b. 1982) works with textiles, sculpture and moving image. Recurring themes are the female body and its relationship to self-concept, affirmation and individual experience. Emelie Röndahl is educated at HDK-Valand and Oslo Academy of Art. She lives and works in Falkenberg. Emelie Röndahl belongs to a young generation of textile artists who explore and challenge tradition and show new aspects within the rya technique. Instead of cutting off the remaining threads in the rya fabric, she leaves them hanging, forming a snarling and bleeding expression. The double-sidedness of the Rya technique is highlighted in a series of woven spatial sculptures, which can be viewed from both sides.
