The images that fleetingly flicker by in a video game get a new focus through Fhager’s art and become permanent. Through embroidered fantasy landscapes and game heroes, a traditional craft is moved into the fine room of contemporary art.
In the Soft Pixels exhibition at Jönköping County Museum, colorful embroideries with motifs taken from both well-known retro games such as Zelda, Megaman and Kid Icarus, but also more unknown games from Japan, can be seen. The motifs are chosen based on personal memories linked to gaming experiences. The paintings in the exhibition are all in widely different designs with a spread in both technique and structure. At the Jönköping county museum, several completely new works are displayed, with motifs from obscure games where the focus is on color, composition and technical variation.
