Živilė Aleknavičiūtė is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans conceptual objects, installations, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, and costume design. Her creative path began during her BA studies in Costume Design at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (2013–2017), further expanded through an Erasmus+ exchange at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (2016), and deepened through an MA in Visual Communication Design at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (2023–2025).
Živilė’s work is rooted in experimentation and material exploration. Particularly during her master’s studies, she became deeply interested in contemporary art, tactile sculpture, and the poetic transformation of aged objects—valuing their visible traces of time and the energy embedded within them. Selected exhibitions and recognitions include: Fashion Injection (2016) – Designer & Winner, Fashion Infection (2017) – Designer, Cover feature in L’Officiel Mada Lietuva (2017), FIDA (Global Fashion Illustration Awards) (2021) – Shortlisted, Contra Punctum (2025) – Curator & Artist, Ašmenys (2025) – Selected Artist, Young Designer Prize (2025) – Selected Artist.
Her work usually reflects a deep sensitivity to texture, memory, and the unseen emotional charge of materials. While trained in design, she sees herself primarily as an artist who does not fit into fixed categories—driven by process, intuition, and conceptual play that moves beyond strict disciplinary borders. Her creative interests are rooted in social issues, the complexities of human experience, and a desire to return to essential truths—a quiet resistance to alienation, both between people and in relation to the surrounding environment.
