“Children of the Jungle is a mockumentary referring to semi-fictional events presented in a documentary manner. The film features teenagers telling stories in front of the camera, playing themselves, but paraphrasing in their body language the various experiences they have encountered in film, video games and other media. The children invited to the filming are the young sharks of the film and advertising industry – they are regularly involved in commercial filming, and this intense media experience is so pervasive in them that it is no longer possible to trace whether what they are saying are authentic stories they have lived through, or whether they are the intertwined experiences of their different realities. Although the viewer never sees a visible, tangible “evil” in the film, the oppression and the tension that something is wrong persists throughout the film. Another character in my film Children of the Jungle is the scenery of the water park with its artificial palm trees, whales and parrots.
