Kate Ruck
Kunstniku päritolumaa: Soome
Kate Ruck (b. Detroit, USA) lives and works between Helsinki, Finland and Las Vegas, New Mexico. Her practice draws from mass cultural information, collective memory, and the natural world. While refraining from seeking definitive answers, her work explores animistic and pan-psychic perspectives, perceiving all things as alive and responsive. Using a diverse range of mediums, she favors adaptable materials that are not confined to a fixed form. Through a workflow of digital to physical, she seeks to revive an innate openness to the world and establish a “spirit line” that encourages information, energy, or essence to flow and reconfigure in these new subjects, fostering the return to our primal perception of the living world. She has exhibited internationally in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Mexico, the US and is a former artist-in-residence at Rule Gallery in Marfa, Texas.
