Einari Hyvönen

Kunstniku päritolumaa: Soome

Einari Hyvönen (b. 1989) is a Helsinki based visual artist, soon to be MFA from the UniArts Helsinki, Fine Art Academy. He employs the traditions of narrative and symbolic storytelling familiar to art history to convey very contemporary tragedies, or farces. The recurring nostalgic imagery of the 1990s and 2000s in the paintings combines with the digital aesthetics of our time which create a conflicting atmosphere between joy and melancholy. This approach produces naïve tragicomical narratives that bring a sense of ease and even humour to the otherwise so uncomfortable topics. Hyvönen’s art works have been acquired to the collections of Kiasma contemporary art museum, Päivi and Paavo Lipponen foundations and Tampere Art Museum. In 2021 his art was praised in the Finland’s major art magazine Taide-lehti and in well-known news magazine Suomen-kuvalehti. Hyvönen has had several solo and group exhibitions nationwide, such as solo show at Tampere, Galleria Himmelblau in 2020 and a group show at Mänttä Art Festival in 2018. His upcoming appearances are in January 2022 at Galleria Platform and in 2023 at Galleria Halmetoja, both in Helsinki.
