Augustė Verikaitė (born 2000) is a visual artist based in Vilnius. For her Bachelor’s degree she studied Graphic art at Vilnius Academy of Arts and also studied at the Prague Academy of Art, Architecture and Design (UMPRUM) in the Department of Sculpture. Her areas of interest include gender studies, feminist discourse and labor law. Augustė is interested in objects of the past as relics, stories and how they echo in today’s world. Her work explores the influence of identity and visual codes on the cultural formation of society. Since 2019 Augustė has been engaged in creative and curatorial activities: she has created a performance for the event “Jonas Mekas: From <…> Memory” (curator Daina Pupkevičiūtė), participated in group exhibitions, and in 2023 exhibited her work in a solo exhibition at the VGMC Gallery in Vilnius that is a part of an exhibition cycle Young/New Graphics curated by Elena Grudzinskaitė. She was also a part of the Rupert Art center team in a symposium called Earth Bonds. And from August 2023 she will be a PR, production and curatorial assistant at Garage Gallery in Prague.
