JUNNY CHUN AU-YEUNG (b.1991) graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts degree in 2015. He also completed a master’s degree in Contemporary Arts from Estonian Academy of Arts in 2022.
CHUN mainly works with sculpture, installation and objects, which are based on his observations on everyday life and intimate relation with the realities of nature, often speaking of memories, intimate situations and insecurity.
In his recently awarded Young Sculptor Award works ‘Our Memories Just Won’t Die, It’s The Trip That Keeps Us Alive’, CHUN explores his self-emotional feeling and security by disassembling the household chairs into a tiny frame. ‘My Heart Aches When It’s Time To Leave’ was awarded the Young Artist Award following his MA graduation show. His thesis’s question: what is home? had deeply dive into the key concepts related to the notion of home. In the same year, ‘Things I Wanted To Say But Never Did’ received a Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center in New York.
