Pedro Riva’s projects are connected by the conceptual foundations of collage, structure, and language. With focus on the dominant biopolitical discourse, his works wanders about the phenomenology of the self inside capitalist structures. His recent practice includes video, text, installation, performance and collaborations with different artists. Pedro Riva studied Philosophy in the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and anthropological theater with Guillermo Angelelli, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He studied Fine Art in the University of Bergen, Norway, and at Kuvataideakatemia, Taideyliopisto, Finland. His work was selected two times to take part in the National Salon in Argentina and he has taken part in residences in Finland, Russia, Argentina and Germany. Some of his recent works have been funded by Office of Contemporary Art, Bergen Kommune, and Kulturrådet in Norway; and Taike, Finnland-Institut in Deutschland, KUVA, and Nordic Culture Point in Finland. He has collaborated in performances with, among others, Roberto Jacoby, Julia Zastava, Emma Fuchs Sjövall, Lucila Mayol, and Robert Carter. His recent projects have been shown in Kunsthuset Kabuso, and Hordaland Kunstsenter, Norway, and Oodi Library, HIAP, and Oksasenkatu 11, Finland. Pedro is also founding member of TEXST a platform for testing text as an art form and an independent publishing initiative based in Bergen and Helsinki. Since 2016, TEXST have been organizing critique encounters, exhibitions, writing workshops (‘As ghosts speak…’ in Bergen Assembly among others), publications, and taking part in different art book fairs such as Bergen Art Book Fair and New York Art Book Fair.
